I recently went on another trip/pilgrimage to Monty's Cottage, located near a town called Shap. It was of course, the house that they filmed Withnail & I at. I went along with Robbie and Judith and a fair bit of camera equipment. I intend on creating something from the images I got there that day, not entirely sure what it will be yet though. I do know that I would like to include lines from the film in whatever it may be, as the films script is so amazingly rich with classic lines and quotes. Here's a peek at some of the images we got.
After a while I have finally managed to get my website up online with new updates. Im pleased with how it's turned out, sure its not the best website ever but im happy that the images of my work is the main emphasis, as thats the whole point right?
If you have a minute, have a look and let me know what you think, good or bad, it's all a good help to making it look better.
Earlier in the week my friend Andy Clarke kindly helped me photograph (some of) my work, for my website. It was definitely worth it getting someone to help me out with this as I have no idea technically what to do with cameras and lights and other photography things that I don't know anything about. Im very pleased with the results (except for my hairy gorilla arm!). It didn't even take that long! But me updating my website probably will.
Andy is a great guy and is from that same land I'm from. You can check out some of his work....HERE!
Wild Beasts (if you have not stumbled upon them before), hail from Kendal, Cumbria and are releasing their second album in August(ish).
This is the video for their new single and it is (in my opinion) very very nice. Also, the lyrics in the song utilize fantastic English...have a listen.
'A crude art, a bovver boot ballet – equally elegant and ugly. I was as thrilled as I was appalled, courting him in fisticuffing waltz. Now I’m not saying the lads always deserve a braying. And I’m not saying the girls are worth the fines I’m paying.'
I found this image on my phone today and I quite like it, so I thought I would throw it up here.
I don't know much about this poster other than it was designed by an anonymous civil servant in 1939 and it was the third in a series of posters designed to boost spirits around the time of crisis. And since around 2000 it's seen a revival and it's everywhere, again.
Myself and Robbie spotted this on the notice board at Uni. It clearly struck a chord with someone, as they took it upon themselves to go all out "English teacher" on their asses.
This is probably one of the best animals i have ever seen in real life. He is apparently called Walter and he sometimes resides in the mortgage shop opposite my friend Damians shop Ruby Blue. These photos i took of him crack me up in a serious way.
I think his owner puts him there to fool people into thinking that he is a real life version of Churchill!
Recently finished off this dvd package for my friend Judith and her group in their final year of media production.
Im quite pleased with it, there's a little bit more to do for their final show thing though. Ive gotta try and get the braille onto them. Ive been experimenting with different ways of doing the braille first and then sticking it onto the package, as the booklet is double sided and i cant imprint at the same position on two sides. ALSO...im not that happy with the paper, that matt paper gets real dirty but its the only stock in reprographicsss that prints double sided...blah blah blah yeah have a look planet earth.
Please excuse the dodgy photos, they are of the mock up i did, not the final one, but its kinda the same, texts changed a bit.
