Logo's

Here's a look at some logos I have been designing recently!

This is a famil-ay of logos that range from traditional Irish pub, to nightclub and then to a smokey back bar that contains some of the most mental characters that Belfast has to offer!

And you will find this all under the one roof!

Video Advertising in Print

About to be unveiled in America soon, video advertising in print based magazines.

Much like me embedding this youtube link into my post, the slim line screens will be embedded into magazines providing moving adds for the viewer. I heard about this a while back but this is the first I've seen a video of the actual product.

There's allot of potential in this technology, I think (and hope) it will boost sales of printed mags as the market for zines has been hit a fair bit since this recession malarky.

There is an interesting short article on the topic here

Lavery's Bunker

Here are some type treatments I've been doing for a club in Belfast. Their "Bunker" is actually on the middle floor, so I thats why the arrows are in there. I was asked to create something that would appeal to freshers as this is going to be used for a large format banner during freshers week and maybe some other stuff.

Nordlys Print

I completed this poster last week in the studio, in an earlier post I showed a few colours of it and I plan to use the colourways in small sized prints. But I thought I would show this big A0 we got printed. I feel it has come out quite nicely, although I have modified it a bit to maximize the shapes of the letters in the backround. The shot was taken down at newcastle beach and it was a nightmare to carry down there with the wind!

Photo was shot by Ryan Harty, who is kindly letting me work with him in his studio this summer!
This photo is featured in the news section on his website. Check it out.

GF Smith Book

These spreads are from an old (ish) paper sample/promotional book from GF Smith. I looked at a good few different ones from them, but this one I felt stood out the most, as it seemed to have just that little bit more punch. I thought I would share these with all.

This book was a treat for the eyes, all the spreads on different paper stocks and paper colours, creating nice looks and feels (and smells) all round. Apparently you can get a hold of these promotional items quite easily, must have a go at that.

Film Titles

I came across this website earlier today. Its a nice website containing screenshots of titles of films, throughout the decades. There is some lovely typography in these images, well worth a sift through. Its easy to forget whilst looking through this website, that these shots are moving image (well, most of them after 1940s).

Nordlys

Few colour variations of a poster I've been working on for my friend Judith. A documentary she produced and directed recently on the topic of the Northern Lights, is going to be shown at a Northern Irish film festival at the end of August. There's allot of detail in these so Im trying to get these printed up HUGE. If anyone wants one let me know, I'm going to get them printed good quality and in Limited Edition.

Il put a better version up on the blog soon, when I get time/home.
