LBi - D&AD brief

I have recently been working on one of this years D&AD briefs. I chose the LBI brief, which required a look into the LBI company. Take the company initials and see what you can come up with was basically the task. I chose to create some short animations, designed to be on websites, a sort of web viral.

Each of the animations are supposed to highlight various aspects of the company in a roundabout way. The analogue approach was used because LBI are mainly based in the digital world.

I had allot of fun making these and I think that comes across. The brief asked for the company to be seen in a new, exciting and engaging way and that was kind of why I chose to do the animations (also because I have been looking for an excuse to try moving image for a while).

I'd love your opinions on these, it would really help. I'd like to do well with this brief and I have a couple more weeks before hand in, so feedback would be great.

Sorry that they are crappy youtube quality, Im home for christmas today and it takes allot longer to upload on vimeo, but I will eventually post up better quality versions.

Merry Christmas all!

Long Beard Industries

This is the first of a few animations that I am working on. This one has been re-shot however, after some thinking and speaking to some friends (and a tutor). The new one looks allot better I must say. It helps to re work these little pieces to get the best out of them.

That's a shadow of my hair in the shot there towards the end....whoops.

Have a look and let me know what you think!

Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 1, 2

Im currently in the middle of producing some stop motion animations for the latest University brief. When I say "in the middle," I mean DEEP in the middle. There is a hell of allot of work to be put into these.

Below is a quick test I did to check my angles and other stuff. It's very rough and not much is going on, but, it's a start, right? For the final animations, there is allot more going on in the backround, colours and objects galore! I'm really finding the lighting element the hardest part, but I've plenty of time.

I shall post more of these up as I do them. Really enjoying these analogue processes. I'll not bore you with why I've chosen to use animation, I'll do that in a later post (coz I'm nice like that). Have a wee look here and give me some feedback if possible! Ta

Creating the afterlife

I'm not a highly religious person but I saw this on YDN design guide and thought it was a great and a very interesting idea. Creating a battery out of yourself, after death and using the energy do undertake tasks that you wish and have declared when living. I think powering a camera to take specific images may be quite interesting. What would you use the power for?

YDN design guide is a pretty interesting podcast, its free to subscribe to. Lots of nice products and interviews feature in their videos.
